Q - Why to I have to send my yearbook to California? You're not in Delaware?
A - Not anymore. I lived in Claymont for most of my early life, up until 1994 when I moved to Southern California, near San Diego. I wish there was an easier way, but it is what it is, sadly.
I do still have family and many friends that live in and around Claymont, so I have strong ties to my hometown.

Q - Why do you suggest USPS? Can I use another shipper like UPS or FEDEX?
A - Sure, you can use any other shipping company you would like. I have used both USPS and UPS without any issues when it comes to sending the yearbooks. The only reason I suggest USPS, is that they provide the boxes for flat-rate shipping and all you have to do is wrap your yearbook[s], place a label and ship. Less money out of pocket. If UPS or any other shipping company has the same, be my guest and use them. Just follow the shipping guide to get the best protection for your yearbooks while they are in transit.

Q - I have a scanner [and know how to use it], Why can't I scan them and send you the files instead of risking my yearbook in the mail?
A - If you have a scanner and are pretty comfortable in using it [it's not hard], I have no problems with you taking the time to scan the yearbooks. It may take some time to do, if your up to the task, by all means.
I have put together a scanning guide to help you so keep all the yearbooks looking consistent. I'm not trying to tell you how to scan pages in a book, but if they are blurry or slanted, they are pretty much un-usable.

Q - Okay, I decided that I am going to help out and scan the yearbooks I have, what now?
A - Great! I really do appreciate it. I know some yearbooks are probably not in the best of shape, but you have to work with what you got and if shipping them is too big of a risk, then scanning them yourself is a good alternative.
I put together a guide on scanning HERE, but here are some quick tips.
I use a flat-bed scanner, it seems to work better and allows more room for the yearbook to rest on the glass.
I gently flex the yearbook back some to allow most of the page to scan. Some of the binding could be hard and not allow for photos and text near the center to scan properly.
Don't try to do a marathon session in scanning, take your time and do it slow and easy and multiple sessions, unless your up for it.
A typical yearbook of about 150 pages may take up to 3 hours to scan. You have been warned!
I use a site called We Transfer to send large files [up to 2GB], no need to sign up, just go to web site and select your files and use this email to send them to: [email protected]

Q - I have a yearbook and would like for you to scan it but money is tight, Can you provide a pre-paid shipping label?
A - I understand. Not everyone has the extra cash to send yearbooks in the mail. The flat-rate shipping is cost effective, but to some, it's still too much.
I could provide pre-paid labels, but they are tricky. They expire in a relatively short time, I believe 48 hours, so the labels are extremely time-sensitive. They also have to be for the exact box that they are shipping in or else they will be delayed or will cost more for using the incorrect box. Too confusing and too many things to go wrong.
I don't want to create any undo financial hardship for anyone, but it has to be this way. It would actually cost more time and money to do the pre-paid labels, sorry.
If it helps, I will reimburse for the shipping for those that request it for letting me add their yearbooks.

Q - How long will you have to keep my yearbook once I decide to send it to you?
A - Like many others, I am a busy person as well, so I will try to scan the yearbooks as quickly as possible. Depending on the size and any other relevant pages that I decide to scan for artwork and such, it should only take a few weeks at the latest.

Q - I tried to view the yearbooks, but I can't seem to see them correctly, or at all. What gives?
A - I use several programs but the final output may use Flash Player from Adobe. I would suggest that you download the latest version to be safe. Remember, if you use more then one browser, you may need a flash player for each browser. They are not all interchangeable!
This goes the same with your mobile phone, tablet, iPod, or whatever else they invent that we'll all be buying. If there is any issues with viewing the yearbooks, it will most likely be with that. If not, feel free to Contact me, but please describe the issue you are having and what device you are using so that I may figure out the problem.

Q - I lost my yearbook a long time ago, do you have any yearbooks for sale? Or have reprints?
A - Sorry you don't have your yearbook anymore, a reason why this archive was created.
I do not have any original yearbooks for sale, the ones that you see here were borrowed and return to their owners. I personally have 5 years worth from years 1984-89, but beyond that, the others were not mine. Several were borrowed from the Brandywine school District, but sadly, they have no extras to sell.
I will look into trying to reprint some from the good scans but they won't be perfect. Better then nothing, I guess. The problem with reprints is most are limited to 100 pages, some of the yearbooks have up to 150 pages. Those extra pages will likely make the yearbook very fragile and may just fall apart.
If I have any reprints I will post them here

Q - Why are there ads on a lot of the pages? Is this a business? Are you making money off of this?
A - I do apologize for the ads, I have tried to place them in areas where they won't be in the way. Is this a business? No. More like a project of passion, but projects don't progress without cash, unfortunately. I am not doing this for the money, trust me, it's not that much. The ads help support the things that keep this site and the facebook page going. Yes this is a free site as well as facebook, but the time and effort put into them to keep them fresh and up-to-date takes lots of time and resources.
The ads generate maybe pennies per click, that is all. Over time it may be enough to pay for shipping for a yearbook, or replace a broken down scanner, or other issues that require money. Everything you see here has ben done with equipment that I own and have to maintain and replace. This site, as well as the facebook page, are not affiliated with the Brandywine School District and receive no funds from them as well. Again, a project of passion.
I don't ask for much, well anything, just your help, that is it. You are not obligated to purchase anything that the ads may show, but if there is anything that they show that you may be looking for, by all means click on them if it helps you. Please do not click on the ads just to click on them, it costs the group advertising $$.
