We don't want a historic wall. We want our historic buildings to stay buildings, not torn down to make a "pretty" wall. What is historic about a wall made from stones of a building? If you want stone walls, take a drive out through Beaver Valley, they have plenty of stone walls.
It is time to stand up and fight for Claymont, Please try to come to the Board of Adjustment Meeting and stand up to the Dollar General Corporation and fight for Claymont.
Public Hearing Agenda - Board of Adjustment - Department of Land Use
- New Castle County, DE
Meeting Date:Thursday, October 10, 2013
Time:6:00 p.m.
Location:NCC Government Center, 87 Reads Way, New Castle Corporate Commons
Below is the link for the meeting for the Board of Adjustment Department of land use. The Coach House is on the agenda and the MANY variances they need to do what they want, which includes tearing down the Original Structure. and building a HUGE modern 2 story building to house their Dollar General store. They were requesting Variances from the DRAC organization with 7 variances that magically became 8 at the meeting. When the first variance was voted down Mr.
Dollar General Rep. asked to table further voting and would take it to the county. Now reading the County agenda for the Coach House Request for 8 variances has MAGICALY become 12!!!!!!!
What they are looking to put there is a huge building that is nothing like Claymont. and it does not fit here. they propose to tear down the original Stone structure an use the stone to make a "nice" wall. do we need a GIANT Dollar General Store in place of an historic structure that still can be restore?
We need as much support to save this property as we can get Please make the time to make this meeting and STAND UP for CLAYMONT!!!
